Beer Mile 2025 is here!!!

Beer Mile 2025 is here!!!
No idea what was going on here....

At last!!! The 2025, Dirtbags Beer Mile is almost here and I could not be more excited!

None of this Nike Sub-4 attempt, the main event tomorrow is the 9th ANNUAL DIRTBAGS BEER MILE!

A top notch and competitive field is expected. A new male Beer Mile champion will be crowned tomorrow as current champion George Reed figures that Medical school is more important. Who will take the Golden Speedcross? Can Alex Stukator 3peat in the Women's Beer Mile? Can anyone knock Liz Halleran from the top spot of the women's wine mile? Which team will take home the hardware in the inaugural 2 mile team event? What will Doug Evans be wearing? How completely impractical will Hilary Cameron's costume be? These are all questions that will be answered tomorrow!

Rules have been posted. Hopefully costumes are finished, and those final workouts are in the bag. I saw a few notables out fine tuning their 'Beer Mile Shakeout' runs this evening. Folks are looking fast.

A few reminders:

The race will take place at 1008 Rundleview Drive. It's the first house on the right as you enter Rundleview. Please try to carpool, ride, or run but if you drive, try to park on the opposite side of the street from the house. Parking is quite limited right now.

Costumes are highly encouraged (compulsory!?) and there will be prizes for best dressed!

Remember - beer must be a minimum of 355ml. Many bottles aren’t so shop carefully.

The rules around the NA/soda mile are pretty loose and bottles are fine too.

Drinks must not be opened prior to racing and I will go over the rules before we start.

The schedule of events will (very, very loosely) be a follows:

6 - 6:10 warm up jog on course - the hallowed 400m turf of Rundleview - the scene of many an epic battle over the years.

6:15 rules announcement.

6:30 - Team Event - 2 miles, 8 drinks (4 beer/4 wine)

7:00 - Wine Mile - not to be missed - 4 x 5oz glasses, 1 mile

NA mile will run alongside the Wine Mile

7:30 - Beer Mile - the MAIN EVENT - 4 beers, 1 mile

8:00 - Drunken Dash - a 100m sprint down Rundleview

8:15 Prizes, Refreshments and Fun!!

We have lots of kegs, sodas and pizza will be arriving at some point.

There will be race prizes, prizing for best dressed runner, and a few random draws!

Hope to see you all there 6pm!!

Rules will be strictly enforced (image credit Simon Lee)
