BEER MILE 2023
2023 BEER MILE - **IMPORTANT** Please read
Well here we go! The 2023 Beer Mile is TOMORROW! I cannot believe it's come around so quickly! Who's excited? A few quick final points.
Questions have been coming in re: beer/wine selection criteria, and whether those racing need to supply their own.
Racing beverages must be supplied by racers. The provided kegs are for the after party, and are free - might be an idea to bring a mug but Solo cups etc will be on hand.
We have a stellar selection of post run beer kegs from our friends at Grizzly Paw, Canmore Brewing, Banff Ave Brewing, Trolley 5 and Sheepdog! We will not run out of beer tomorrow!
RACE BEER: beer must be a minimum of 5% alcohol. No hard ciders or lemonades. It must be beer. Beer is defined as a fermented alcoholic beverage brewed from malted cereal grains and flavored with hops.
Cans or bottles - your choice. Minimum volume 355mls (12 oz). Lots of bottles do not meet these criteria - be sure to check. Course referee Saira Reed will be checking!
No special cans eg wide mouth. No straws, aids or shotgunning. If using bottles run with a bottle opener. Each beer is opened immediately before consumption. You can not open beers ahead of time.
WINE: supply your own. Wine must be a minimum of 11% alcohol. You will drink 4 x 5oz glasses during the race. Wine can be red/white/rose/fizzy, so long as it is 11% minimum. We will have plastic glasses on hand for wine milers to use.Wine can be pre-poured into the provided glasses. Glasses will be marked with 5oz lines.
NA Beer Mile: I am assuming that we will have a few NA beer milers this year. We will run this alongside the WINE Mile.
We will begin registration at 6PM or shortly thereafter. You will be assigned a number at the registration desk - this will be written on your hand/arm in Sharpie.
Once you are all registered we will jog the course and I will go through the official rules.
We'll start with the Wine Mile (& NA mile) then it's the Beer Mile.
Following this we will have the legendary Drunken Dash. We will try not to run Simon Lee over this year....
After this we'll have awards and draw prizes. Look out for some fantastic prizing as always!
There will be music, pizza and a selection of snacks for the after party!
Rock on. See you all tomorrow!!
